Tribe News #01
TribeU to donate courses, TribeDAO recruits talent and we say "farewell" to Mailchimp & Wix.
Hi frens,
Welcome to the first edition of Tribe News.
Let’s dive in and see what happened in the Tribe this week.
TribeU to Donate Courses
“You can’t pour from an empty cup” - My Mother-in-Law
Creating a healthy sustainable business model can be tricky. Even more so if you want to add a charitable element into the mix.
Generating revenue is important if we want to continue to help those in need.
That’s why we’ve introduced the TribeU: Buy a Course, Give a Course initiative.
Together, we can make a difference by making education accessible to anyone, anywhere, regardless of their circumstance.
If you would like to join the TribeU waitlist and receive early access once it’s released, complete this short form. It’ll take you 20 seconds max!
TribeDAO Recruits Awesome Talent
TribeDAO is a non-profit, member-owned cooperative with a focus on making quality education free and accessible to anyone, anywhere.
While still in its infancy, I put the word out there to see if I could find some founders to help get this bad boy off the ground.
I’m proud to say that we have a lot of discussions going on with amazing candidates.
Better still, we’ve been able to recruit two amazing educators with a passion for tech and a heart for people. Welcome Tom Oliphant and Benjamin (BenniG) Gaske to the TribeDAO Founders team.
We still have some Founder slots left. If you’re interested in becoming a TribeDAO Founder, email info@tribeofones.com.
Farewell Mailchimp and Wix.com
If our emails look different, it’s because they are.
I’ve ditched Mailchimp and Wix.com and consolidated all written communications within Substack. Why?
Firstly, it’s cheaper. For a fresh startup with no revenue yet, saving $60/mth is what dreams are made of.
Secondly, as a one-man operation, it’s important that I manage communication channels efficiently. I believe Substack is the easiest way for me to do that at this point in the journey.
How does Substack work?
Put simply, it’s a blogging platform with an email list attached.
It certainly doesn’t have all the features that a platform like Mailchimp has, but it’s simple, clean and easy to maintain (me likey).
One feature I quite like is the ability to separate my Tribe of Ones publication into ‘Sections’. I saw the opportunity to ditch Wix and essentially start a Tribe of Ones media publication.
Not only does this help me organise my content better, but it means you have the freedom to choose which content you receive.
Don’t have time for Tribe News? Denied!
Wired Wisdom too mushy for you? Sayonara!
It’s important that you know that you have full control over the content you receive.
How to unsubscribe from Tribe emails
The easiest way to unsubscribe from a free publication is to scroll to the bottom of any email you've received and select "Unsubscribe".
Once you click “Unsubscribe” a new window will open and you should see your “Manage Subscription” page. You may need to log into your Substack account.
Scroll down to the “Notifications” section and turn off any emails you no longer want to receive.
